SPORTING FINGAL/EID claimed their first FAI Futsal Cup title after a thrilling 4-2 final victory over Blue Magic at the BRL Umbro Arena on Sunday
Bohemians 1-0 Sporting Fingal. Sporting Fingal looked on course for at least a draw in Friday's opening Airtricity League match until hosts Bohemians won what seemed a soft penalty. Liam Buckley praised his players' efforts on their first outing in the top-flight.
The preparations are over as newly-promoted Sporting Fingal face the ultimate test on Friday night when they open their Airtricity League top-flight campaign at title holders Bohemians (7.35pm).
The Football Association of Ireland and Fingal County Council are delighted to announce upcoming AVIVA Soccer Sister Easter camps at a number of Fingal venues. The camps are open to girls aged 7-11 years of age with the aim of increasing the number of girls playing soccer, and will take place each day from Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April 2010.
Following on from the visits to schools in Skereris, Dublin 15 and the Naul earlier in the week, the FAI Ford Cup was back on the road on Wednesday and Friday, taking in even more schools in Fingal.
Sporting Fingal tasted defeat for the first time in their pre-season programme on Saturday when Waterford United scored two late goals to win 3-1 at Cahir Park AFC. Liam Buckley's side open their Airtricity League campaign this Friday by facing champions Bohemians at Dalymount Park.
The Coast Inn, Skerries is the place to be tonight (Thursday 25 Feb) as the Sporting Fingal Special Olympics Team hosts 'A Question of Sport' with teams of four battling it out to become quiz-kings. All funds from the event go towards the Ireland Games in Limerick 2010 so all support would be appreciated.
The FAI Ford Cup continued the rounds of Fingal this week, visiting schools in Dublin 15, Skerries and the Naul, with further visits to come tomorrow.
Sporting Fingal have a trip to Tipp arranged for this Saturday (Feb 27) as they meet Waterford United at the home of Cahir Park, Tipperary as part of the Junior club's centenary celebrations. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
Friday 26th February 2010 sees the start of a new Friday Night Late Night Soccer League Balbriggan. Open to boys and girls aged 13-15 and 16-19, the games will take place at the all-weather pitch in Glebe North on Fridays from 9pm to 11pm and the League will run for 6-8 weeks.
