Paisley helps his former school celebrate half-century

Wednesday, February 03, 2010 By John Fallon @ 1:00 AM :: In The Community

Sporting Fingal captain Stephen Paisley has been named in a squad of past pupils from St. Declan's School in Cabra to face Bohemians this Sunday in a specially arranged game to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary

Stephen attended the secondary school on the Nephin Road until he departed for England at 16 to set out on a football career with Manchester City. He played for Longford Town and St. Patrick's Athletic before joining Fingal at the start of the 2009 campaign and skippered the side to the FAI Ford Cup in his first season.

As part of the school's jubilee celebrations, a friendly game has been organised for Dalymount Park this Sunday (Feb 7) at 3pm between Premier Division champions Bohemians and a squad of past pupils from the school. These include Bohemians trio Owen Heary, Paul Keegan and Marc Hughes along with former Ipswich Town goalkeeper Shane Supple.

In the lead-up to the weekend game, Stephen visited his former school on Tuesday with the FAI Cup trophy for a photocall along with his fellow past pupils. Ex-Shamrock Rovers legend Harry Kenny, who will manage the Declan's team, was also present.

Tickets (€5 for adults, €3 for students) can be purchased at Dalymount Park or on the day of the match. All support is welcome.
