The Football Association of Ireland and Fingal County Council are delighted to announce upcoming AVIVA Soccer Sister Easter camps at a number of Fingal venues. The camps are open to girls aged 7-11 years of age with the aim of increasing the number of girls playing soccer, and will take place each day from Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April 2010.

As a nationwide programme the aim of the AVIVA Soccer Sisters Camps is to improve skills in a structured and a safe coaching environment, will all camps in indoor venues. As the camps are for girls only, it will give the participants an opportunity to improve existing skills, learn new ones, and play matches amongst their peers. FAI Development Officers have also linked the camps to local clubs to ensure sustainability for girls wishing to continue their soccer education. Each participant will receive a special Soccer Sister Kit and water bottle, as well as excellent week long coaching.

Paul Keogh, FAI/Fingal County Council Development Officer said “This is a great programme to introduce girls to playing soccer or for girls looking forward to a fun week of football. To ensure we have sustainability we have linked in with the local clubs to provide a pathway for girls wishing to continue playing football after the camps.”

At the recent official launch of the AVIVA Soccer Sisters Easter Camps, Republic of Ireland international Gillian McDonald said “I started playing football when I was young and would have loved the opportunity to play on an Aviva Soccer Sisters Camp. I visited the camp in Monaghan last year and I saw how much fun the girls had and also how they grew in confidence as players over the time I was there."

The camps take place from Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April 2010 and cost €60. Each camp is limited to 30 places, so contact the relevant FAI/Fingal County Council Development Officer early to book a place.
