Sporting Fingal Star Educates Kids on Healthy Eating

Thursday, April 29, 2010 By Conor Cullen @ 2:59 PM :: Club News, In The Community

Sporting Fingal winger Conan Byrne was in St. Patrick’s Junior National School today, talking to the kids of 1st and 2nd class about healthy eating and diet.

Conan, and Club Promotions Officer Conor Cullen, spent the morning talking to over 150 kids about the do’s and don’ts when it comes to healthy eating, and the importance of a healthy diet for kids.

“It’s part of our schools’ programme this year, and so far the presentations have gone down great.” said Conor. “The kids really enjoy it, and they take in the message when it comes from a sports star, someone they look up to.”

“One of the main reasons Sporting Fingal was established, was to roll out programmes like this, using sport as an educational tool for kids. Our main sponsors Keelings have also been hugely supportive of this initiative."

The programme, which features healthy eating hints and tips from fans’ favourite Freddie the Fox, will be offered to primary schools throughout Fingal.
