Towering centre-back Stephen embarked on a career across the water when, as a 16-year old, he signed for Manchester City from Cherry Orchard.

His switch to Longford Town in 2003 coincided with the club’s most successful time in their history as Paisley and his team-mates steered the Midlanders to back-to-back FAI Cups and a League club crown.

St. Pat’s made a move for the defender at the start of 2007 and, despite enduring some injury problems, he became a mainstay at Inchicore. Skippered Fingal to the FAI Ford Cup in his maiden season with the club.

Stephen won several Under-21 caps for Ireland between 2002 and 2004.
